Simply having a website and social media tools is just not enough. Your business needs to have a strategy in place to drive traffic and increase your social media presence.

Post regular updates
Your audience wants regular updates full of information that will keep them coming back for more. Updates should include pictures, news about your company and its projects or employees, industry news, helpful tips or tricks, a call to action or questions. Posts and updates should be made once a day, or at least a minimum of once a week. Keep your business on audiences’ minds.
Develop a consistent style
Your company has a goal and a mission; therefore it is important to develop a specific company voice across all channels. Use the same language style with each post, have a consistent personality and ensure that marketing pieces online reflect the same style as well.
Interact with other brands and companies
Pay it forward and interact with other brands by liking, sharing and retweeting their posts. This will help you to get your brand name out in social media and encourage other brands to interact with yours. This tip is also great to help keep you informed of what the competition is up to.
Add social sharing buttons to all content
It is equally important to enable your site visitors to share your content on their personal networks, as it is to promote your social presence. Add social sharing buttons such as share on Facebook, Tweet this, Pin this, etc., on blog articles, email messages, landing pages, and ebooks. By doing this, you are able to reach far beyond your direct network of followers and increase your reach.
Promote your social presence everywhere
Include your URL on everything! Just as important as your URL, include your social media information or links on your website, blog, signage, advertising, emails and even in storefronts. Most social media sites offer official “follow” buttons that you can include on your websites and blogs.
Build relationships and contacts
Follow users in your industry and engage in conversations with them. Follow back anyone who follows you. Find and follow other influential bloggers and share their content on your networks. Choose pages from your industry, associations, local businesses, events, etc. to help build up your network of connections.
Interact with fans/followers
Always monitor your presence and interact with fans and followers. Be engaging, ask questions, and participate in discussions with fans and followers. Be available to answer questions and make comments on posts that are left on your sites-especially complaints. Another great way to interact with fans and followers is to make your site a must-follow by offering promotions and incentives by liking or following your pages.
Gaining traffic and building a large social media presence will take patience and time. But following the steps above will help you to start improving site traffic and expanding your reach. Don’t be afraid to try new things and have fun with your social media.
